Bobcat Skiers Finish Fourth at RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships

Led by its men’s alpine team, the Montana State ski team finished fourth at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/NCAA West Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Bridger Bowl and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.

Sophomores Louis Muhlen-Schulte and Åge Solheim placed ninth and tenth in slalom, respectively to pace the Bobcats. Muhlen-Schulte posted a two-run total of 1:50.10, while Solheim was on his heels with a clocking of 1:50.16. Riley Seger, 14th, 1:51.08, rounded out MSU's scoring.
Denver's Tobias Kogler won the event in 1:48.55.
The Bobcat women were led by Tegan Wold, who placed tenth with a two-run total of 1:57.04. Also scoring for MSU was Haley Cutler, 19th, 2:02.69.
DU's Amelia Smart captured the women's slalom title in 1:53.24.
Senior Emma Tarbath posted the highest finish for the Bobcat Nordic squad. The product on Anchorage, Alaska, placed 11th in the 15-km classic with a time of 48:19.9. She was followed by Anna Fake, 15th, 50:01.9, and Aubrey Leclair, 20th, 51;37.0.
DU's Eveliina Piippo won the race in 46:11.7.
Eli Jensen guided the MSU men's Nordic squad finishing 14th, covering the 20-km course in 59:46.1. Also scoring for the Bobcats were Eli Hermanson, 15th, 59:52.3, and Reed Godfrey, 21st, 1:01:05.8.
Utah's Ola Jordheim won the men's classic in 56:15.7.
Behind three individual titles on Saturday, Denver upset Utah to claim the RMISA/NCAA West Regional team title with 688 points. The Pioneers were followed by Utah 678, Colorado 643.5, MSU 449, Alaska Anchorage 427, Westminster 268.5, Alaska Fairbanks 182, and Colorado Mountain 110.
Montana State will host the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships March 11-14 at Bridger Bowl (alpine) and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center (Nordic). The championships will mark the eighth time the Bobcats have hosted skiing's big dance
