Montana State sophomore Åge Solheim placed fifth overall at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association slalom qualifier on Monday afternoon.
PARK CITY, Utah – Montana State sophomore Åge Solheim placed fifth overall at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association slalom qualifier on Monday afternoon. The race was the final tune-up prior to the RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships, which the Bobcats host Feb. 28-29 at Bridger Bowl and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
The RMISA Qualifier, which does not count towards any team scoring, is used as an extra opportunity for skiers to earn qualification points for the NCAA Championships, which the Bobcats host March 11-14.
Solheim posted a two-run total of 1:56.50. Also recording qualification points was Riley Seger, who finished 14th in a time of 1:59.78. Zak Vinter did not finish his first race, while Louis Muhlen-Schulte did not complete his second go.
Utah's Joachim Bakken Lien won the qualifier in 1:55.03.
The Bobcat women were led by Tegan Wold, who finished 13th with a two-run total of 1:52.92. Also contributing for MSU were Nellie Talbot, 18th, 1:54.29, and Haley Cutler, 27th, 2:07.07.
Denver's Amelia Smart won the women's race in 1:47.21.
