Montana State sophomore Louis Muhlen-Schulte capped an outstanding two-day performance at the Utah Invitational placing runner-up in the slalom on Sunday afternoon at Park City Mountain.
PARK CITY, Utah – Montana State sophomore Louis Muhlen-Schulte capped an outstanding two-day performance at the Utah Invitational placing runner-up in the slalom on Sunday afternoon at Park City Mountain.
Muhlen-Schulte posted a two-run total of 1:55.79, finishing on the heels of Utah's Joachim Bakken Lien, who clocked 1:54.83. Muhlen-Schulte had the fourth fastest opening run and completed the second run with the third fastest time of the day.
Åge Solheim, who clocked the second fastest opening run in 56.32, had a tough go on the second finishing in 1:06.13. Solheim and Muhlen-Schulte were the only two Bobcats to score as Zak Vinter and Riley Seger did not finish their first runs.
The Bobcat women had a tough outing as well with just Tegan Wold producing points. Wold placed 13th overall in 1:54.41. Denver's Amelia Smart won the event in 1:48.92.
Utah captured its own home meet with 743 points. The Utes were followed by DU 599.5, Colorado 584.5, Alaska Anchorage 523, MSU 433, Westminster 223, Alaska Fairbanks 195, Colorado Mountain 137 and Wyoming 132.
The Bobcat alpine team will compete in a RMISA qualifier in giant slalom on Monday in Park City, before heading back to Bozeman to host the RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships, Feb. 28-29 at Bridger Bowl and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
