Men’s Alpine Team Posts Solid Effort at Utah Invite

The Montana State men’s alpine squad had the second best showing of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association teams on Saturday afternoon at Park City Mountain, producing 75 points as two Bobcats placed in the top ten in giant slalom during the Utah Invitational.
PARK CITY, Utah – The Montana State men's alpine squad had the second best showing of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association teams on Saturday afternoon at Park City Mountain, producing 75 points as two Bobcats placed in the top ten in giant slalom during the Utah Invitational.
Louis Muhlen-Schulte finished fifth overall with a two-run total of 1:52.82, while freshman Riley Seger, skiing in his first race of the season, placed seventh in 1:52.85. Rounding out MSU's scoring was Åge Solheim, who finished 11th in 1:53.48.
Muhlen-Schulte, a sophomore from South Yarra, Australia, had the fastest second run of the race, posting a time of 55.52.
Utah's Joachim Bakken Lien captured the men's giant slalom title in 1:51.67.
The Bobcat women's team was paced by Nellie Talbot, who finished 12th with a two-run time of 2:07.67. She was followed by Trixie Lever, 17th, 2:09.11, Cecily Decker, 19th, 2:09.25, Haley Cutler, 21st, 2:10.08, and Tegan Wold, 25th, 2:13.21.
Colorado's Mikaela Tommy took the women's race in 2:04.33.
With just the men's and women's slalom races left for Sunday, Utah sits atop the team standings with 584 points. The Utes are followed by CU 420.5, Denver 418.5, Alaska Anchorage 411, MSU 361, Alaska Fairbanks 195, Wyoming 132, Westminster 113, and Colorado Mountain 59.
