Montana State Student-Athletes Register Excellent Fall Semester Academically

Bobcats post 3.37 grade point average
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State student-athletes posted a 3.37 grade point average (out of 4.0) during the Fall 2020 semester, MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello announced Wednesday.
The Bobcat alpine ski team led the way with a 3.898 GPA, but eight of Montana State's 14 varsity teams (including the spirit squad) posted grade point averages of 3.50 or better. Of MSU's 333 student-athletes, 50 recorded perfect 4.0 grade point averages to qualify for the University's President's List, while 114 others made the Dean's List by accumulating a GPA of 3.50-3.99. The next Dr. Robert Oakberg Dinner for Bobcat student-athletes whose grades are all A or A- will number 84 invitees.
"This department's legacy of producing excellence in the classroom is unquestioned," Costello said, "we continue to be incredibly proud of our student-athletes academic success, especially this past semester given all of the challenges they faced. This is a team effort and the credit not only goes to the effort put in by the student-athletes but also to our coaches, academic staff and the MSU faculty for their unwavering support. This is a tremendous accomplishment in a very challenging time."
During the fall semester, 74 percent of Montana State's student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.0. The women's tennis team compiled a 3.811 GPA, women's cross country posted a 3.719, volleyball 3.657, and women's track 3.612. The Bobcat football GPA of 3.213 is one of that program's highest on record.
