Former MSU All-America joins AFC South champions
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State running backs coach DeNarius McGhee has accepted a position with the NFL Houston Texans, Montana State coach Jeff Choate confirmed on Tuesday.
McGhee indicated that the title of the position hasn't been finalized. The former Bobcat All-America and two-time Big Sky MVP departs after three seasons at his alma mater, where he coached running backs during the 2018-19 seasons. In that time running back Isaiah Ifanse set a school freshman rushing record and a Bobcat single-game playoff rushing record. McGhee coached Bobcat quarterbacks in 2017, when Chris Murray became the school's single-season quarterback rushing leader. McGhee also served as the program's recruiting coordinator for the past year-and-half.
"DeNarius did very good work in a number of roles on our staff," Choate said. "He brought energy and a tireless work ethic every day, and his personality and passion are infectious. This is an exciting opportunity, and I wish him the best."
The Texans finished the 2019 season 10-6, won the AFC South, and beat the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs before losing to Kansas City in the Divisional round.
