Talbot, Solheim Reach Podium as Bobcat Skiers Open Colorado Invitational

After taking a few days off following the Denver Invitational, the Montana State ski team was back on the slopes on Wednesday for the start of the Colorado Invitational at Eldora Mountain Resort.
NEDERLAND, Colo. – After taking a few days off following the Denver Invitational, the Montana State ski team was back on the slopes on Wednesday for the start of the Colorado Invitational at Eldora Mountain Resort. And, the Bobcats didn't drop its early season momentum as both Nellie Talbot and Aage Solheim reached the podium in giant slalom action.
Talbot, who posted two top 10 showings last weekend, paced MSU on Wednesday finishing runner-up to Colorado's Mikaela Tommy. Talbot posted the fastest opening time clocking a 56.46 run. Her two-run total of 1:54.66 was on the heels of Tommy's 1:54.26.
Also scoring points for the Bobcat women were Cecily Decker, 7th, 1:55.74, and Haley Cutler, 21st, 1:59.97. Tegan Wold and Trixie Level did not finish their first runs.
Bobcat sophomore Aage Solheim made it four-for-four finishing third overall in the men's event with a two-run total of 1:52.17. Solheim, a product of Staarheim, Norway, has placed in the top three in all four races this season.
Addison Dvoracek of Utah captured the men's giant slalom title in 1:51.50.
Also contributing for Montana State were Louis Muhlen-Schulte, 10th, 1:53.64, Patrick Carry, 15th, 1:54.30, and Zak Vinter, 25th, 1:55.79.
After two events, Colorado sits atop the team standings with 165 points. The Buffaloes are followed by Utah 153, MSU 146.5, Denver 130.5, Alaska Anchorage 115, Westminster 99 and Colorado Mountain College 68.
The CU Invite continues Thursday with the slalom races. The Bobcat Nordic squad opens its RMISA season on Saturday with the 5/10-kilometer freestyle events
