Trifecta: Solheim Makes Podium for Third Consecutive Day to Guide Cats at DU Invite

Montana State sophomore Aage Solheim found the podium for the third consecutive day placing second in slalom at the Denver Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
ASPEN, Colo. – Montana State sophomore Aage Solheim found the podium for the third consecutive day placing second in slalom at the Denver Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Solheim, a product of Staarheim, Norway, posted a two-run total of 1:34.50. His 46.40 opening run was the second fastest showing in the first go. Utah's Joachim Bakken Lien won the event in 1:34.35.
Also contributing for the Bobcats were Patrick Carry, 10th, 1:35.73, and Louis Muhlen-Schulte, 12th, 1:35.89. Zak Vinter did not finish his second run.
The MSU women's team was led by Tegan Wold. The freshman from Vail, Colo., recorded her first top ten finish in a clocking of 1:44.01. Colorado's Stephanie Fleckenstein won the slalom title in 1:41.03.
Also placing for MSU were Trixie Lever, 17th, 1:45.47, Nellie Talbot, 19th, 1:48.76, and Haley Cutler, 21st, 1:48.76. Cecily Decker did not finish her opening run.
Only 47 points separate the top five squads in the team standings. Utah sits atop of the DU Invite with 317 points, followed by Denver 306, Westminster 288, Colorado 278, MSU 274, Alaska Anchorage 181 and Colorado Mountain College 152.
The alpine team will compete in the Colorado Invitational Jan. 15-16. The Bobcat Nordic team will open its Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association season with the CU Invitational Jan. 18-19. The Nordic team will complete the DU Invitational Jan. 25-26.
