MSU senior reels in award for first time this season, second time in his career
BOZEMAN, Montana – Tristan Bailey made all three of his field goals and both his extra points Saturday, helping Montana State to a 23-14 win at Western Illinois and for his effort landing ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors. His previous Big Sky weekly award came after MSU's home win against the Leathernecks last season.
A senior from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bailey hit two kicks into the wind in the fourth quarter to seal Montana State's win. The first was a 41-yarder with 11:13 remaining, and the game-clincher a 47-yarder with 2:40 to play. He also converted a 27-yarder early in the third quarter. Bailey also averaged 62.7 yards on his six kickoffs, with two touchbacks and one other pin inside the 20-yard line.
Bailey is now 5-for-7 on field goals this season, and 8-for-8 on extra points. He and the Bobcats host Norfolk State for Saturday's Stripe the Stadium game.
