Brian Campbell, S: A brilliant student, Brian Campbell doesn't just apply intelligence in classroom settings. MSU's fifth-year senior is an anchor of MSU's special teams and plays both safeties, a wide level of participation that his position coach chalks up to his intelligence. "He picks things up really fast," said Kane Ioane. "He can play both safety positions, which is a tribute to how smart he is, and he helps coach up the younger guys. He's a team-first guy who is really smart." Campbell is a fifth-year senior majoring in engineering, and interned at Boeing this summer.
38 – The point differential in MSU's three wins vs. Western Illinois
Montana State visits Western Illinois on September 14 this season, extending a series that began in 1990. The Cats beat WIU that season 38-16 in Reno H. Sales, and won the rematch 29-16 in Macomb in 1993. The series was rekindled with a 26-23 Bobcat win last fall, raising the cumulative score to 93-55 in MSU's favor.
