Montana State enters 2019 with high expectations
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State was chosen to finish fourth in the Big Sky in 2019 by the league's media representatives and Sports Information Directors, and fifth by the coaches, the league announced Monday morning. Eastern Washington was tabbed as the pace-setter by both groups.
The Cats and Griz find themselves locked in a battle for fourth and fifth. UM is fifth in the media poll, fourth in the coaches' poll. Big Sky coaches and media found consensus on Eastern Washington, UC Davis (second), Weber State (third), Northern Arizona (sixth), Idaho State (seventh), Idaho (eighth), Cal Poly (ninth), Portland State (10th), and Northern Colorado (13th). The other discrepancy came near the bottom of the polls, where Sacramento State is picked 11th in the coaches poll and 12th in the media poll, with Southern Utah opposite of the Hornets in the two polls.
"This is positive," says Bobcat coach Jeff Choate, "but it's really for the fans. It doesn't mean anything in a football sense. Everyone in our program understands that this has no bearing with how we will work in August and what happens in games this fall."
