A look at the number 99 in MSU football history
May 24: In addition to a quick look at players wearing the jersey number corresponding to the number of days remaining until Montana State's season opener at Texas Tech, Bobcats by the Numbers brings you another tidbit or two aligning with that number.
#99
Marcus Ferriter, DE: Marcus Ferriter has become one of the most versatile members of the team's defensive line, a valuable and valued reserve whose quickness off the line and productivity in spot duty has become a key component of the Bobcat defense. He has played in 45 games as a Bobcat, logging 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He is the only Butte Central grad on either the Montana State or Montana roster as the summer begins, and is believed to be the only Butte product in either of the state's Division I programs that has played a down of varsity football.
99(.5) – Receiving yards per game by Rick Gatewood in 2005, still a school record for an MSU receiver. Gatewood's two seasons on the Bobcat varsity produced spectacular numbers – he caught 131 passes for 1,759 yards with 13 touchdowns, all of which remain on the school's top 10 lists.
Chronology: Tom Powell (1975), Dick Lyman (1974, '76), Chris Jensen (1977), Jim Missel (1979-80), Gregg Wilks (1984), Tom Jacobs (1985-87), Matt Christiansen (1988-91), Dallen Bjerkness (1992-96), Jarrod Beekley (1997-98), Carson Souter (1999), William Kofe (2000), Aaron Ware (2001), Nick Barbero (2002-03), Aaron Papich (2004-07), Brian Bignell (2008-12), Dallas Hayes (2013), Marcus Ferriter (2015-)
