Bobcat Skiers Sixth at RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships

After six events the Montana State ski team sits in sixth place in the team standings at the 70th Annual Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/2019 NCAA West Regional Championships heading into the slalom events on Saturday afternoon.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – After six events the Montana State ski team sits in sixth place in the team standings at the 70th Annual Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association/2019 NCAA West Regional Championships heading into the slalom events on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcat Nordic squad notched an impressive showing in the 15/20K classic races as three racers posted top 10 finishes. Anna Fake and Emma Tarbath placed sixth and eighth, respectively, while Ty Godfrey guided the MSU men's contingent with a sixth place showing.
Fake had her best race of the season clocking a time of 46:34.9, while Tarbath was close behind in 47:00. Godfrey registered a clocking of 52:56.7, just 11-seconds behind champion Kornelius Groev of New Mexico.
Also contributing to the Bobcat attack on the women's side were Kathleen O'Connell, 14th, 47:50.9, and Kelly Koch, 23rd, 50:55.3.
Following Godfrey in the men's race was Ti Donaldson, 16th, 55:22.5, Eli Jensen, 17th, 55:24.2, and Karsten Hokanson, 33rd, 59:29.7.
Montana State's alpine squad was paced in giant slalom by freshmen Aage Solheim, who finished sixth with a two-run clocking of 2:27.22. He was followed by Florian Szwebel, tenth, 2:27.33 and Morten Bakke, 14th, 2:28.13. Patrick Carry did not complete his opening run.
The Bobcat women had one racer, Mia Henry, competing due to injury and freshman Beatrix Lever participating in the world junior championships.
Henry notched her best race of the season finishing seventh with a two-run total of 2:37.98, good for 25 points.
Utah sits atop the team standings with 517 points. The Utes are followed by Colorado 483.5, Alaska-Anchorage 386, UNM 375.5, Denver 331, MSU 314, Alaska-Fairbanks 182, Westminster 65 and Colorado Mountain 10.
