The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA FCS Semifinals on Friday night by beating Austin Peay
BOBCAT NOTES
* Isaiah Ifanse's 196 rushing yards was an MSU post-season record
* Ifanse has now gained 417 post-season rushing yards, a Bobcat record
* Ifanse also threw a touchdown pass Friday, the first of his career
* Ifanse now has 1,778 career rushing yards, good for 13th in MSU's all-time list
* Austin Peay surrendered 80 tackles-for-loss in its first 14 games, 5.7 per game, but the Cats logged nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage on Friday

What an unbelievable crowd, what an unbelievable atmosphere. I think the team fed off the energy all night, defensively. I want to say thank you, is what I want to do. I want to say thank you to our administrators that helped to make sure that people that wanted to come to this game could, our community businesses that chipped in, and our community at large. What an awesome environment. That was worthy of getting us to the semifinals for the first time in 35 years."
On Derek Marks' strip sack: "He's a legend, man, a Bobcat legend, Derek Marks, no doubt about it, in more ways than one. That's just one of many plays I think the Bobcat faithful will remember for a long time. It's got to be special for him, being a local young man from Belgrade. I just have a lot of affection for this group. This group of seniors is very special to me. I think it's awesome that this group of seniors could experience something like this."
On MSU's physicality: "This is a dangerous team. It's a hot team, they've won seven or eight in a row, they're blowing teams out. They have that true plus-one run threat, which is always hard. People say, You practice against that all the time, but we really don't. We practice against the opponent we're getting ready to play, not ourselves. I was very concerned about containing (JaVaughn) Craig coming into this game. I thought our defensive plan was really very good, and a big part of it was that we simplified. We did not have a lot of calls going into this because we knew that we were going to have to potentially defend that plus-one run threat. And once it became a drop-back game we felt we had an advantage with our defensive line against their offensive line. (MSU's physicality) is the heart and soul of our program. It's a style that travels, and it's style that wins games in November and December."
