BOBCAT FOOTBALL GAME DAY NOTEBOOK #10: Montana State Looks for Continued Late-Season Success at Northern Colorado

The Bobcats enter today's game down a starter at tackle and running back
Montana State's offensive lineup shuffles again today, when the Cats and Northern Colorado square off in Greeley. Right tackle Connor Wood's string of starting every game of his varsity career ends when Jake Sessions takes over at right tackle. Woods was injured in last week's win over Southern Utah, but he is not week-to-week from this point on.
Senior running back Logan Jones is expected to start at running back. Sophomore Isaiah Ifanse and sophomore Shane Perry are expected to miss today's game with injuries.

Jeff Choate's teams have shown a knack for playing their best football when the games matter the most. Since the 2016 season began, the Cats stand 15-17 from August through October, and 7-3 in November. That includes last week's home win against Southern Utah, which snapped a two-game (October) losing streak.

Northern Colorado looks a fair bit different in 2019 than the last couple of Bears squads. UNC has become "more of a spread-it-out-and-throw-it team," in the words of Bobcat defensive coordinator Kane Ioane. The Bears have throws 308 passes in nine games this season, 7th in the Big Sky. Quarterback Jacob Knipp's 222.3 passing yards per game is ninth in the conference. The Bears also stood in the top half of the league in pass attempts last season, but Jeff Choate said this year's approach is different. "They look more like a North Dakota," he said, relying more on run-pass option concepts than the traditional dropback game.
