Montana State's lopsided 1964 win belies the series histories against Dakota schools
Here's a quick look at the history of Montana State's series with this week's opponent, including memories by men who saw the games.
All-Time Series: MSU leads 10-4
In Bozeman: MSU leads 4-2, but has lost two straight

Streaks and Stuff
South Dakota State owns a current two-game streak in this series, but through the yaers it's been mostly Bobcats. The Cats own a pair of four-game streaks – from 1956-59, the first four games played between these schools, and 1964-66 plus 2004.
Here's a Good Story
The Bobcats and Jackrabbits have met on the gridiron five times over the 54 years since, but the last meeting between these teams in Brookings was September 12, 1964, and it went Montana State's way 46-14. The Bobcats gashed SDSU on the ground, gaining 425 yards on 65 carries. Dan Hodge led the way with 82 yards on four carries, and six different players caught one pass each from Ray Foley (4-for-8, 113 yards, one touchdown pass) and Bob Stephan (2-for-6, 45 yards). The Bobcats finished the day with 583 total yards, and the 46 points was a season-high during the program's first Big Sky Conference Championship season.
Memory
All-America lineman Terry Albrecht was part of Montana State's offense destruction of South Dakota State during the last Bobcat game played in Brookings. But that doesn't change his opinion of the Jackrabbits, then or now. "We always played those North Dakota and South Dakota teams, and they were always tough games," Albrecht recalls. The record book matches the memory of Albrecht, a center originally (and currently) from Great Falls. During his three years three seasons as a starter (1963-65) the Bobcats played schools from the Treasure State's eastern neighbors eight times, and came out with a 3-5 record.
