Final Preseason Scrimmage, Family Fun Day on Tap for Bobcat Stadium on Saturday

Scrum begins at 5:30 pm, after a day of activities for fans of all ages
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State takes center stage one more time without an intercollegiate opponent on Saturday, when the Cats conduct their final full scrimmage of fall camp at 5:30 pm in Bobcat Stadium.
"By design it will be pretty vanilla," Montana State coach Jeff Choate said of Saturday's event, "but we'll let them get after it a little bit. We want to put guys in position and see who's going to make plays."
The scrimmage caps a day of activities and fun for all ages. The doors open for Family Fun Day at 2:30 pm, with activities beginning at 3 pm. Football, volleyball and cheer clinics, games, and inflatables will be available at Bobcat Stadium. The entire day is free and open to the public.
The scrimmage boosts the Bobcats closer to game preparation in advance of the Western Illinois contest on August 30. Saturday gives the staff an opportunity to put its team through the paces of a normal, if truncated, game-day routine. The scrimmage begins in the evening hours, similar to the 7 pm Gold Rush game. "The second scrimmage is a dress rehearsal for the first game," Choate said.
"It will be more game-like," he said of Saturday's scrimmage, "but it's open to the public and certainly we don't want to put a lot of things out that that will help our opponents. So from a scheme standpoint it will be pretty vanilla, but there are a lot of things we can evaluate. Are we playing fast? Are we making plays? There are things like that on both sides of the line of scrimmage. We'll let the ones and twos get their work in and then let the young guys play."
