Bobcat Sports Radio Network Football Crew to Have New Look for 2018 Season

“As an old coach I’m excited to be on the sidelines again,” Davies said. “As a player, I became very familiar with the sidelines watching the coaches and players interact first-hand and experiencing the game from the closest vantage point is a great opportunity.”
Dan Davies, the color commentator on Montana State football radio broadcasts since 1988, will enjoy a different vantage point this fall.
"It's kind of a throwback for me," Davies said of his return to the Bobcat Stadium sidelines for the first time since he was an MSU player and assistant coach in the 1970s and '80s. Davies will handle sideline reporting chores for the Bobcat Sports Radio Network by Bobcat Sports Properties this fall, with Jason Alvine, the sideline reporter the past two seasons, joining fifth-year play-by-play voice Jay Sanderson in the booth as analyst. Bobcat Sports Properties is the local arm of Learfield, MSU's multi-media rights holder.

Montana State Director of Athletics Leon Costello agreed with Davies. "I share Dan's excitement to experience games from the field again as he will still be able to add his knowledge and perspective as former student-athlete and coach to every broadcast. I am also glad we get to keep all three members of the broadcast crew together to cover Bobcat football
Originally from Chinook, Davies played for the Bobcats from 1975-78 then became a student assistant coach in 1979. He coached at Whitefish High in 1980 before returning to Montana State in 1981. He was in private business in Bozeman in 1987-88, but returned to Bobcat Athletics in an administrative capacity in 1988, and has served in that role ever since. He is presently Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations, and was MSU's highly successful golf coach in the 1990s.
