A look at some of the Bobcats who have worn #89
June 2: Bobcat by the Numbers takes a look at current and past Bobcats that correspond to the number of days remaining before Montana State opens the 2018 football season against Western Illinois in Bobcat Stadium's annual Gold Rush game on August 30.
#89
Clark Judisch, TE: Montana State's current Conrad Cowboy, Clark Judisch's continued physical improvement could not only lead to more playing time and productivity for himself, but will also help diversify an already deep and talented tight end group. More importantly, Judisch's continued development helps create some certainty going forward for a tight ends group that graduates three seniors after the 2018 season.
Spotlight: Bryan Flaig's receiving numbers pale compared to video game-like numbers posted in the modern era, but the Missoula product was a dominant force in the Bobcat offense during the Sonny Holland era. Flaig missed by one catch and a handful of yards of leading the team in receiving for three straight years, but his 65 catches for 1,178 yards marked the most by a Bobcat from 1974-76. He was part of a Bobcat offense that won the school's second National Championship as 1976.
Chronology: Gary Dusenberry (1956), Frank LaMasse (1970-71), Bryan Flaig (1974-76), Dan Davies (1977-78), Neil Parker (1979), Kevin White (1980), Brent Baker (1982), Brent Bateman (1983-84), Scotty Neuman (1985), Toby Pettit (1986), Mike Schwartz (1987-88), Wade Rademacher (1989), Matt Huffield (1989), Jim Gersack (1992-93), Craig Zimmerman (1995), Jesse Marunde (1999, 2001), Demeadri Oliver (2000), Cody Samuelson (2002-03), Jaren Stensland (2004), Mike Van Gorden (2005), Josh Lewis (2006), Steven Foster (2008-11), Chris Houden (2012-13), Wilson Brott (2014-15), Clark Judisch (2016-)
Other 89 Notes: Current MSU Associate Athletic Director Dan Davies proudly wore #89 for the Bobcats in 1977 and '78. Unlike many players, there was no story behind Davies' jersey choice. "I was just happy to have a number," the proud Chinook Sugarbeeter says with a smile.
