Wade Rademacher kept order in the middle of the MSU D-line in the early '90s
Bobcat by the Numbers takes a look at current and past Bobcats whose jersey numbers correspond to the number of days remaining before Montana State opens the 2018 football season against Western Illinois in Bobcat Stadium's annual Gold Rush game on August 30.
#97
Wilson Brott, TE: One of the Bobcats that traveled to Poland to aid Habitat for Humanity International's efforts in building a house for a family in need, Wilson Brott's utility on that project reflected his usefulness as a Montana State gridder. He has played both offensive tackle and tight end, and is regarded as the team's best blocker at the latter spot. His physical play in the run game adds effectiveness to the Bobcat ground game.
Spotlight: There wasn't much funny business going on in the middle of the Montana State line in 1992 and '93, when Wade Rademacher stood watch as a defensive tackle. That is apt. For many years thereafter the Dayton, Minnesota, product worked in law enforcement in Montana, most recently as Kalispell's interim Police Chief. Rademacher registered 141 tackles over his final two seasons, getting seven sacks as a senior and five more as a junior. Rademacher's brilliant play as a senior earned him First Team All-Big Sky honors.
Chronology: Gregg Wilks (1983), Terry Martinson (1984-85), Jared Wright (1986), Bryan Krumwiede (1987-90), Wade Rademacher (1991-93), Jon Bednarz (1994), Jarrod Beekley (1995), Justin Morris (1996), Nick Morasko (1997-2001), Ben Smith (2002), Nick Gilchrist (2003-04), Chris Kolone (2005-2008), Derek DeJong (2010), Zach Logan (2011), Connor Thomas (2013-15), Lewis Kidd (2016), Wilson Brott (2017-)
Other 97 Notes: In tiny Antelope, Montana, Bryan Krumwiede was a pretty big deal - and not just because he was pretty big (6-4). He came to Montana State after starring as a tight end and defensive end at Medicine Lake High School, and hitting a game-winning shot to boost his basketball team to a District championship. A nimble, athletic tight end for the Cats, Krumwiede led the team with 50 catches in 1990, snaring eight touchdown passes in his career.
