Bobcat Skiers Post Best Finish of Season at Denver Invitational

Colorado claimed the team title with 657 points, followed by Denver 590.5 and MSU 583.5. The Bobcats finished ahead of national powers Utah 556.5 and New Mexico 482.
The Montana State ski squad posted its best team finish of the season placing third at the Denver Invitational on Sunday. The Bobcat Nordic contingent recorded a combined 143 points in the 5/10-km classical to close out its regular-season.
Colorado claimed the team title with 657 points, followed by Denver 590.5 and MSU 583.5. The Bobcats finished ahead of national powers Utah 556.5 and New Mexico 482.
Erik Axelsson and Karsten Hokanson placed fifth and sixth respectively, while freshman Eli Jensen closed out MSU's scoring placing 11th-overall. Axelsson, a senior from Pitea, Sweden covered the 10-km course in 34:07.6, while Hokanson was on Axelsson's heels in a time of 34:08.2. Jensen, a product of Boise, Idaho, went 34:57.8.
Colorado's Alvar Johannes Alev won the men's classic title in 33:19.5.
Emma Tarbath guided the MSU women's squad placing seventh in a time of 19:22.8. She was followed closely by Anna Fake in eighth place with a clocking of 19:33.8. Jordi Floyd completed MSU's scoring with a 14th place showing in 20:27.2
New Mexico's Guro Jordheim won the women's classical in 18:48.3.
The Bobcats will compete at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association and NCAA West Regional championships Feb. 22-25 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
