Logan Jones Will Miss Today's Game to Preserve His Senior Season in 2019

Bobcat running back helped Montana State win the Miracle in Missoula
His last memories of the 2018 season will be tremendous.
Hobbled all fall by a leg injury, running back Logan Jones came off the bench to rush for 47 yards in last week's Cat-Griz game. Included in that total was Montana State's game-winning touchdown, a 13-yard run with 2:19 to play to cap a brilliant, improbable comeback. He also triggered the Bobcats' first scoring drive of the second half with a 23-yard catch-and-run.
The Miracle in Missoula likely doesn't happen without Kalispell's Logan Jones. But his 2018 season ended that afternoon.
"In order to preserve Logan Jones' senior season, I made the final decision that Logan would not play again in 2018," he said. "He's come back from his injury to give us a tremendous boost, but he deserves a full senior season. Everyone in the program looks forward to Logan having an outstanding 2019."
Jones retains another year of eligibility by virtue of a new NCAA rule that allows players to compete in four games before that season counts against his eligibility. Jones, who missed the first seven games of 2018, will return in 2019 as a senior because he never utilized his redshirt season.

The snow piling up on the morning of MSU's 2018 First Round FCS Playoff game against Incarnate Word calls to mind the Bobcats' last playoff game. In 2014, the Bobcats lost to South Dakota State 47-40 in a game played almost entirely in a driving snow. Chad Newell scored five touchdowns for MSU in the loss. SDSU's Zach Zenner rushed for more than 250 yards.
