MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello releases his most recent to the Bobcat fan base
Dear Bobcat Nation,
Fall is upon us and our Athletics calendar is in full swing. We've already had some incredible moments in Bozeman through the opening month of the school year that I'd like to briefly highlight.
Our football team began its season in front of a packed stadium for "Gold Rush." The atmosphere in and around Bobcat Stadium was electric and the game was an exciting one, especially with a victory in the end. Over 18,000 Bobcat fans filled the stands for each of our first three home games and we have three big games remaining. Get your tickets for remaining home games here.
The Montana State volleyball team hosted its first home match on Sept. 20 in Shroyer Gym and the Bobcats made it an exciting one. It took five sets, but the Bobcats pulled out a victory over Portland State, their first in over a decade. Shroyer was a fun place to be that night with over 1,100 packing the Gym to witness the feat. I look forward to many more great performances and Shroyer atmospheres this year. Get your tickets for remaining home games here.
Homecoming is next week! This is always one of our favorite times of the year. It's great to welcome so many friends and alumni back on campus. Please join us as the MSU volleyball program hosts Idaho on Thursday. On Saturday, Bobcat football welcomes the Idaho Vandals back to Bozeman for the first time since 1995 with kickoff at 2 p.m. The day continues as volleyball closes out the evening by taking on Eastern Washington inside Shroyer Gymnasium. I encourage everyone to make it a full weekend of Bobcat Athletics. You can get your tickets to all of our home events online at msubobcats.com.
Let's not forget about the other fall sports. The MSU cross country programs recently took first place in the team standings, and had the first place individual, in the 42nd running of their home meet at Bridger Creek Golf Course. Both the men's and women's squads also had strong showings at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis this past weekend. Our tennis and women's golf teams have also been in action throughout the fall, competing in tournaments throughout the West before our winter sports get started.
Looking beyond the events that take place competitively, one we're especially looking forward to here in Bozeman is the inaugural Blue & Gold Gala. The Gala will be held on the evening of Friday, Nov. 2, inside Worthington Arena starting at 5:30 p.m.
The Blue & Gold Gala will be a great opportunity to spend a night with us inside Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, meet our Bobcat teams and student-athletes, all while playing an important role of supporting MSU Student-Athlete Scholarships.
Click here to purchase your event tickets, donate an item or money, or bid on silent auction items. Those unable to attend the event on November 2 will be able to bid on silent auction items by going to this websiteand registering. Items will go live on October 26. Register today to support student-athlete scholarships.
Finally, basketball practice has begun and the first games of the season are less than a month away. I look forward to seeing you in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse this winter. As a reminder, the Big Sky Conference Basketball Tournament will take place in Boise, Idaho, in March. CenturyLink Arena will provide a great neutral site and be an inviting atmosphere for our fanbase to travel to and experience. We will have an allotment of tickets for sale and I encourage our fans to purchase tickets to the Big Sky Conference Tournament through the Bobcat Ticket Office. This will ensure you will sit with other Bobcat fans while attending the event.
Thank you for your continued support of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.
Go Cats!
