Bobcat Skiers Move Up Standings with Strong Slalom Showing

The Montana State men’s squad racked-up 86 points in the slalom as Garret Driller and Addison Dvoracek placed in the top five. The Bobcat women posted 69 points as Benni Lyche and Jocelyn McCarthy finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
MSU INVITE DAY 2 RESULTS
The Montana State ski team received solid performances from both its men's and women's teams in slalom to move from fifth to third in the team standings following four events at the MSU Invitational on Monday afternoon.
The Montana State men's squad racked-up 86 points in the slalom as Garret Driller and Addison Dvoracek placed in the top five. The Bobcat women posted 69 points as Benni Lyche and Jocelyn McCarthy finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
The Bobcats moved from fifth to third in the team standings with 276 points. Colorado and Denver sit atop the standings with 306 and 294 points, respectively. Trailing MSU is New Mexico 272, Utah 263.5, Westminster 193.5, Alaska Anchorage 190 and Colorado Mountain College 71.
Driller, a senior from Tahoe City, Calif., continued his early season success placing second with a two-run clocking of 1:39.65. Driller had the second fastest opening run. Dvoracek, a sophomore from Truckee, Calif., finished fifth in 1:40.44. He recorded the second quickest final run in 49.59 to move from 22nd into the top five
Rounding out scoring for the MSU men was Morten Bakke, 11th, 1:41.13. Patrick Carry did not finish his second run, while Jeff Bell was disqualified after missing a gate in the opening go.
Lyche rebounded from a 'did not finish' in Sunday's giant slalom to register a two-run total of 1:44.79 in slalom. She had the fourth fastest opening run in 51.88. McCarthy notched a two-run total of 1:45.06, putting together two solid efforts. Also producing points for the Cats was Kari Hole, who finished 12th in 1:45.80.
Also posting finishes for MSU were Mia Henry, 13th, 1:46.27, and Amanda Stelling, 21st, 1:55.83. Stephanie Gartner did not finish her second run.
The Nordic portion of the MSU Invitational will be held Jan. 13-14 at the Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
