Bell Guides Bobcats to Fifth Place on Opening Day of MSU Invite

“We had some great performances,” said MSU head coach Kevin Francis. “Our senior and captain Jeff Bell led the way with another strong finish. We are excited to switch to the slalom races (tomorrow).”
MSU INVITATIONAL GS RESULTS/TEAM
Senior Jeff Bell paced a strong men's showing finishing fifth overall in the giant slalom on the opening day of the Montana State Invitational. The product of Airdrie, Alberta had the sixth fastest first run and totaled a two-run time of 2:08.10.
Also placing in the top 10 for the Bobcats were Garret Driller, seventh, 2:08.11, and Patrick Carry, tenth, 2:08.47. Morten Bakke and Addison Dvoracek finished 14th and 17th, respectively.

The MSU women's squad was led by Stephanie Gartner, who placed tenth with a two-run clocking of 2:10.65. The junior from Calgary, Alberta, posted the eighth quickest second run in 1:05.86.
Rounding out the Bobcat scoring were Mia Henry, 18th, 2:12.52, and Jocelyn McCarthy, 22nd, 2:13.78.
MSU All-America standout Benni Lyche did not finish her second run, while Kari Hole, who placed third in the NCAA Giant Slalom qualifier on Saturday, did not complete her opening run.
New Mexico sits atop the team standings with 173 points. The Lobos are followed by Denver 153, Utah 133, Colorado 129, MSU 121, Alaska-Anchorage 102, Westminster 86, and Colorado Mountain College 37.
The alpine portion of the MSU Invitational will conclude on Monday with the slalom events.
