Mac Bignell Named to STATS FCS Preseason All-America Third Team

Drummond High grad leads MSU defense
Early honors continued to accumulate for Mac Bignell Monday when STATS named Montana State's senior linebacker to its Preseason All-America squad.
Bignell, named a Preseason All-Big Sky player at the league's Summer Kickoff two weeks ago, anchors the Bobcat defense entering the 2017 campaign. He is a Third Team choice. The Drummond product was Second Team All-Big Sky as a junior, when he averaged 1.32 tackles-for-loss, third in the league, and 3.5 total tackles, seventh. As a sophomore he finished among the top 10 players in the FCS in both those categories.
Montana State opens practice for the 2017 season on Thursday, August 3. The season begins at Washington State on September 2. Here are Big Sky Conference players chosen to the STATS FCS All-America Team:
First Team
Offense - Joe Protheroe (Cal Poly)
Defense – Cole Reyes (North Dakota)
Special Teams – John Santiago (North Dakota)
Second Team
Offense – Gage Gubrud (Eastern Washington), Emmanuel Butler (Northern Arizona), Andrew Vollert (Weber State), Skyler Phillips (Idaho State)
Third Team
Defense – Jay-Tee Tiuli (Eastern Washington), Mac Bignell (Montana State), Taron Johnson (Weber State)
Special Teams – Jacob DeMaio (Weber State)
