Women’s Basketball Program Announces First Ever Bobcat School Day Game

“At Montana State, we pride ourselves on offering an outstanding product both on the court and in the classroom,” said MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello. “This is an amazing opportunity to get elementary children on our campus to experience everything the university has to offer and to provide an electric atmosphere at the game.”
Montana State will host its first ever Bobcat School Day game when the MSU women's basketball team hosts Wyoming, Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. in Worthington Arena.
A full slate of activities will surround the game as Bobcat Athletics partners with different campus constituencies to give elementary kids a well-rounded Montana State University experience.
"At Montana State, we pride ourselves on offering an outstanding product both on the court and in the classroom," said MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello. "This is an amazing opportunity to get elementary children on our campus to experience everything the university has to offer and to provide an electric atmosphere at the game."
The event is for kids K-8th grade and includes free tickets when coming with a classroom or entire school. Teachers, bus drivers and chaperones will also receive free admission. In addition, special lunch offerings will be available at MSU concessions or students may pack their own lunches.
"We are thrilled to host our first Bobcat Basketball School Day," said MSU women's basketball coach Tricia Binford. "This is something we've been talking about doing for a few years as it makes so much sense to involve our incredible community. The game will feature educational components and will include a basketball math book that ties into the strength of MSU's prestigious math and science programs.
"We are excited to get kids on campus and experience Bobcat basketball who may have never been to a game before as well as the atmosphere our players will get to compete in with the big, loud crowd this day will create," Binford added.
Kids and Bobcats fans will be treated to different educational opportunities throughout the game, including special science experiments during halftime.
"We're excited to give our students the opportunity to make a college campus visit at an early age and experience the educational programming that MSU athletics is putting together in conjunction with the game," said Belgrade's Saddle Peak Elementary Principal Barbara Frank.
