Thurman Thomas Moves into Featured Speaker Role at Triangle Classic Banquet

College, Pro Football Hall of Famer in Great Falls April 7
Thurman Thomas took nearly 3,000 handoffs in his career as a Pro Football Hall of Fame running back. Next week in Great Falls, he'll take another.
Thomas, the former Buffalo Bills star, serves as the featured speaker at the Triangle Classic Banquet in Great Falls on Friday, April 7. Thomas takes a figurative handoff from Rod Woodson, a fellow Hall of Famer forced to withdraw from that role due to professional obligations.
A five-time Pro Bowl selection who won NFL MVP honors in 1991, when he rushed 1,407 yards and led the NFL with 4.9 yards per carry. After breaking out with 881 rushing yards as a rookie in 1988, Thomas gained over 1,000 yards in eight consecutive seasons. As versatile an offensive weapon as he was prolific, Thomas led the NFL in yards from scrimmage four times, finishing his 13-year NFL career (1988-99 with Buffalo, 2000 with Miami) with 12,074 rushing yards and 16,532 yards from scrimmage.
The Oklahoma State product played in 21 career professional post-season game, helping lead the Bills to the Super Bowl following the 1990, '91, [92 and '93 seasons. He rushed for 4,595 yards and 43 touchdowns at OSU, earning All-America honors in 1985 and '87. A College Football Hall of Famer, Thomas finished his career as OSU's all-time rushing leader.
The Triangle Classic Banquet begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at the Four Seasons Arena in Montana Expo Park. Cost of admission is $800 for a table (includes prime rib dinners for 10) or $85 for a single dinner ticket. The Bobcat football team will conduct a limited scrimmage at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Memorial Stadium. MSU will also hold football and spirit squad clinics on the Great Falls practice fields at 9 a.m.
