Miller Earns 1st Team All-America Honors; Bobcats Finish Sixth at NCAAs

Montana State senior Anika Miller capped an outstanding career placing fourth in the women’s 15-kilometer freestyle in 40:05.6 to garner All-America accolades, Saturday morning at the 2017 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire.

The product of McCall, Idaho was the reigning NCAA champion in freestyle heading into the event.
Also earning All-America honors for the Bobcats was Johanna Taliharm, who placed seventh overall in 40:39.2. Freshman Kathleen O'Connell finished 31st in 43:13.1.
Colorado's Petra Hyncicova won her second consecutive title of the championships with a clocking of 39:21.6.
The MSU men were paced by Karsten Hokanson, who covered the men's 20K course in 34th with a time of 49:58.7. Noah Andersen finished 36th overall in 50:26.6.
Utah claimed the 2017 NCAA Skiing team title with 541.5 points, followed in the top 10 by Colorado 525, Denver 524, Dartmouth 400, Vermont 355, MSU 320, New Mexico 188.5, Northern Michigan 182, New Hampshire 146, and Colby 142.5.
MSU's sixth place finish was its eighth consecutive championship placing among the nation's top ten.
In all, the Bobcats boasted eight All-Americans, just three shy of its all-time mark of 11 set last season when MSU placed a school-best fourth overall.
Sophomore Benni Lyche claimed MSU's fourth ever individual title winning the giant slalom on Wednesday.
