Bobcat Skiers Place Fifth at UAA Invitational

Miller, who claimed the 2016 NCAA freestyle title, covered the course in 47:04.7. Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Kathleen O’Connell, 18th, 50:13.4, and Anna Fake, 23rd, 51:22.1.
Montana State All-American Anika Miller finished fourth overall in the women's 15-kilometer freestyle race to lift the Bobcats to a fifth place team finish at the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational, Sunday morning at Kincaid Park.
Miller, who claimed the 2016 NCAA freestyle title, covered the course in 47:04.7. Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Kathleen O'Connell, 18th, 50:13.4, and Anna Fake, 23rd, 51:22.1.
Emma Tarbath, 29th, 53:51.1, and Jordi Floyd, 30th, 54:06.4, also finished for Montana State.
The Bobcat men were paced by Martin Muan, who placed 24th, covering the 20k course in 59:39.2. He was trailed by Noah Andersen, 27th, 1:01:03.4, and Karsten Hokanson, 32nd, 1:03:29.0.
Utah claimed the UAA Invitational team title with 661 points. The Utes were followed by Denver 636, Colorado 544, New Mexico 497, MSU 441, UAA 436, Alaska Fairbanks 272, and Colorado Mountain College 91.
The MSU ski team will compete in the RMISA/NCAA West Region Championships, Feb. 24-26 at Beaver Creek and Minturn, Colorado.
