NEXT UP: The Bobcats will conclude play this weekend as it hosts the University of Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena. Montana State has won 17 consecutive games within the friendly confines of Worthington Arena. MSU's last loss at home came on Nov. 24, 2015 in a 62-49 decision to the University of San Diego. The Bobcats have won 14 straight Big Sky games at home. Its last league loss in Worthington Arena was Feb. 12, 2015 to Northern Colorado (84-63).
ON A SERIES NOTE: The Bobcats hold a commanding 33-14 advantage in its all-time series with Idaho dating back to March 1, 1975. MSU has won the last six meetings between the two rivals. Last year, the Bobcats beat the Vandals 62-59 in Moscow. Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford has a perfect 6-0 mark against Idaho in her 12th season at the helm of the Montana State program.
SNAPPED: The Bobcats saw their seven-game win streak snapped at Idaho State on Saturday afternoon. The streak matched last year's run from Dec. 21 - Jan. 16.
STATE OF THE LEAGUE: The Big Sky Conference is currently ranked 18th in the most recent RPI. The West Coast Conference, who MSU has three wins over (Pacific, Santa Clara, Portland), is ranked 13th this week. According to this week's NCAA Nitty-Gritty RPI the Bobcats are the highest ranked Big Sky team; ranked at No. 96. MSU is followed by Northern Colorado 119, Idaho 126, Eastern Washington 136, North Dakota 150, Idaho State 170, Portland State 237, Weber State 246, Sacramento State 267, Northern Arizona 274, and Montana 343.
THURSDAY IN THE BIG SKY: In action around the Big Sky on Thursday night North Dakota defeated Northern Arizona 80-78; Idaho defeated Montana 86-59; and Northern Colorado defeated Southern Utah 83-53.
SCOUTING THE VANDALS: It will be a match-up of the two Big Sky champions on Saturday as Idaho, who was the best over a week-long period in March to capture the league tournament, meets MSU, who captured it first outright title winning the 18-game regular-season crown. The Vandals defeated Montana on Thursday 86-59 in Missoula. UI was led by Taylor Pierce with 22 points, while Mikayla Ferenz and Geraldine McCorkell added 13 and 12 points, respectively. On the season, the three lead the Vandals in scoring - Ferenz 15.8 ppg, McCorkell 14.0 ppg, and Pierce 10.5 ppg. Under the boards, Idaho is paced by Brooke Reilly at 5.7 rebounds per contest.
