Bobcat Women Rule Slalom at Utah Invite

Jan. 14, 2017 – HUNTSVILLE, Utah – One day after the Montana State men's team dominated the giant slalom at the Utah Invitational, the Bobcat women returned the favor and ruled the slalom event, Saturday afternoon at Snowbasin Ski Resort.

MSU All-American Benedicte Lyche finished runner-up with a two-run total of 1:50.95. Her 56.12 second run was the second-best clocking in the final heat. Sophomore Jocelyn McCarthy used the fastest second-run time to post a clocking of 1:51.11, placing third overall.

Kari Hole finished MSU's scoring with a sixth place in a time of 1:52.02. As a team, the trio recorded 98 points, the highest total of any school in the alpine events.

The Montana State men's squad was led by Jeffrey Bell, who placed 18^th in 1:50.53. He was followed by Patrick Carry, 20^th, 1:52.13.

"Several skiers didn't make it to the finish line, but they were going for it and skiing as fast as or faster than anyone when they went out," Francis added.

Colorado captured the Utah Invite team title with 610 points. The Buffaloes were followed by Denver 601, Utah 554, New Mexico 489, Montana State 450, Alaska Anchorage 406, Alaska Fairbanks 252, Westminster 220, Wyoming 104, and Colorado Mountain College 35.
