Following its best season in the history of the Montana State ski program, alpine head coach Kevin Francis was named Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Alpine Coach of the Year.
It was the second straight honor for Francis, who helped guide the Bobcats to a fourth place finish at the 2016 NCAA Skiing Championships in March.
"It's a great honor," Francis said. "It's reflective of the hard work our student-athletes and coaching staff put in this winter."
The Bobcat alpine squad placed second in its discipline at the NCAA Championships, with the men's team finishing first racking-up 154 points. Junior David Neuhauser and freshman Morten Bakke led the Bobcats earning First and Second-Team All-America honors.
Neuhauser was the national runner-up in giant slalom, while Benedicte Lyche finished second in the women's giant slalom. Lyche, along with freshman Stephanie Gartner, who was fourth in giant slalom, also recorded First-Team All-America accolades.
In slalom action, the men's contingent placed sixth, seventh and eighth overall, while freshman Jocelyn McCarthy placed tenth in the women's race. McCarthy and Garret Driller, along with Neuhauser and Bakke, claimed Second-Team All-America recognition for their efforts.
