
Montana State Qualifies Full 12-Member Team for NCAA Skiing Championships

The Montana State ski team qualified a full 12-member team for the 2016 NCAA Skiing Championships next week in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The Montana State ski team qualified a full 12-member team for the 2016 NCAA Skiing Championships next week in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Teams are comprised of three men and three women in both alpine and Nordic events.
All six Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association schools – Alaska Anchorage, Colorado, Denver, MSU, New Mexico and Utah – qualified complete squads. RMISA teams have won 53 of the 64 NCAA Championships, including the last three consecutive outings.
Representing Montana State will be Morten Bakke, Garret Driller, David Neuhauser, men's alpine; Stephanie Gartner, Benedicte Lyche, Jocelyn McCarthy, women's alpine; Karsten Hokanson, Sawyer Kesselheim, Forrest Mahlen, men's Nordic; and Cambria McDermott, Anika Miller, Johanna Taliharm, women's Nordic.
Driller, Neuhauser, Lyche, Kesselheim, Mahlen, and McDermott all qualified for last year's NCAA Skiing Championships and led the Bobcats to a seventh place team finish, which was the program's highest showing since the sport went co-ed in 2004.
McDermott and Mahlen each garnered First-Team All-America honors in Lake Placid, New York, last March, while Lyche and Neuhauser claimed Second-Team All-America accolades.
The 2016 NCAA Skiing Championship will be held March 9-12, and hosted by the University of Colorado.
