Men's and women's teams wrap up racing at Cross Country Town USA

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Montana State cross country teams had all 14 of the combined participants finish with individual top times of the year at the Pre-Nationals Invitational on the LaVern Gibson Championship Course Saturday, Oct. 15.

The Invite featured three separate fields for both the men's and women's competition.

The MSU women's team raced against some of the toughest opposition in the nation in the Blue six-kilometer race to open the morning session. The Blue race showcased eight USTFCCCA Top-30 teams, including second-ranked Colorado which won the team event. The Bobcats placed 41st overall.

On the men's side, the Bobcats placed fourth out of 20 teams in the White 8K race. Ohio won the White race, while MSU finished ahead of Power Five members Clemson, Wake Forest and Arizona.

Sophomore Alyssa Snyder led the MSU women's team by finishing in a time of 21 minutes, 14.1 seconds, good for 73rd overall. Sophomore Kelsi Lasota had her highest finish in the MSU lineup this season, taking second on the Bobcat squad and 210th overall with a time of 22:20.2. Junior Louisa Serpe also finished a season-high third in the MSU lineup, placing 245th overall with a time of 22:50.2.

Freshman Madison Liechty followed Serpe in 247th overall (22:58.0) and sophomore Layne Oliver rounded out the Bobcats scoring lineup by taking 259th (23:08.2). Also competing for the Bobcats in the Blue 6K race were freshmen Kimberly Parsell (23:24.5) and Sierra Tucker (23:48.3).

MSU's scoring lineup was headed by sophomore Tyler Mogan who took ninth overall with a mark of 25:08.8, just two seconds shy of a sixth-place finish in the White 8K race.

Senior Adam Wollant had his best finish of the year in the Bobcats lineup, taking second among MSU runners and 38th overall with a time of 25:49.1. Following him was sophomore Anthony Schmalz (25:57.4) who placed 47th.

Rounding out the Bobcats' scoring lineup was senior Zachary Kughn (26:08.8) and freshman Isaac Barville (26:09.3) in 61st and 62nd place, respectively. Sophomore Noah Kirkland (26:29.0) took 80th and senior Shawn Peden (26:52.9) finished 105th to round out the White 8K grouping.

The Bobcats are scheduled to head next to Moscow, Idaho, to compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships on Oct. 28.
