Freshman Gartner Paces Bobcat Skiers at NCAA Qualifier

Freshman Stephanie Gartner posted a two-run total of 2:11.59, placing 11th overall in giant slalom, Saturday afternoon in an NCAA qualifier for all Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association schools.

Also posting times for MSU were Benedicte Lyche, 13th, 2:11.70; Tenaya Driller, 16th, 2:12.08; Jocelyn McCarthy, 26th, 2:16.32; and Amanda Stelling, 28th, 2:17.43.
Utah's Chloe Fausa won the giant slalom qualifier in 2:09.34.
The Bobcat men were paced by a freshman, as well. Airdrie, Alberta product Jeffrey Bell finished 15th in a time of 2:07.89. He was followed by Garret Driller, 19th, 2:08.27; Morten Bakke, 20th, 2:08.28; David Neuhauser, 21st, 2:08.34; Michael Radford, 30th, 2:10.19, and Andrew Kircher, 35th, 2:11.56.
Denver's Erik Read captured the men's giant slalom in 2:05.66.
The Bobcats will host the Montana State Invitational beginning on Sunday with the giant slalom and finishing with the slalom races on Monday. Races will be held at Big Sky Ski Resort on Tippy's Tumble starting at 10 a.m.
The Nordic portion of the MSU Invitational will be Jan. 17-18 at Bohart Ranch.
