Bobcat Women Notch Big Giant Slalom Day

The alpine women took center stage on Tuesday and two Montana State skiers finished in the top 10 of the giant slalom at the University of Utah Invitational to push the Bobcats into third place in the team standings.

Freshman Stephanie Gartner paced Montana State finishing fifth overall with a two-run clocking of 2:07.08. Benedicte Lyche recorded the fastest time during the second run to place sixth with a two-run total of 2:07.21.
The MSU pairing combined for 56 points and pushed the Bobcats into third place with 191 points, behind Denver 240, and Colorado 226.
Also scoring for Montana State was Mia Henry, 15th, 2:08.37.
Tenaya Driller, 19th, 2:10.52; Jocelyn McCarthy, 21st, 2:13.26; and Kari Hole, 23rd, 2:15.09 also contributed to the Bobcat attack.
Chloe Fausa of Utah won the women's giant slalom title in 2:04.90.
The men's giant slalom race will take place on Wednesday, with the Nordic portion of the Utah Invitational taking place Jan. 10-11.
