Montana State placed two skiers in the top 10 of the Nordic classic on Sunday to help the Bobcats to a fourth place finish at the Colorado Invitational.

Montana State placed two skiers in the top 10 of the Nordic classic on Sunday to help the Bobcats to a fourth place finish at the Colorado Invitational.

Sophomore Erik Axelsson had MSU's top performance placing fifth overall covering the 20-kilometer course in 58:10.4. Also notching points for the Bobcats were Sawyer Kesselheim, 12^th, 59:23.5, and Karsten Hokanson, 15^th, 59:48.3.

Denver's Moritz Madlener won the event in 56:51.8.

Senior Cambria McDermott once again paced the Bobcat women placing 7^th overall covering the 15k event in 51:06.7. She was followed by Anika Miller, 14^th, 52:58.2, and Johanna Taliharm, 17^th, 53:05.1.

New Mexico's Emilie Cedervaern won the women's classic title in 48:58.0.

Behind the efforts of Axelsson and McDermott, MSU was able to hold onto fourth place, finishing 2.5 points ahead of New Mexico.
Utah won the team title with 649 points. The Utes were followed by Denver 587, Colorado 583, MSU 516.5, New Mexico 514, Alaska-Anchorage 402.5, Westminster 240, Wyoming 118, and Colorado Mountain College 61.
