Bobcat juniors join nation's elite
Montana State offensive guard J.P. Flynn closed 2014 as the youngest offensive lineman to earn First Team All-Big Sky honors. He opens his junior season as one of the two youngest offensive linemen selected to the STATS Inc. Preseason All-America First Team.
Flynn (6-5, 320, jr., Bettendorf, IA) joins junior quarterback Dakota Prukop as MSU's Preseason All-Americas. The Bobcat signal caller landing on the third team.
Only three underclassmen earned Preseason All-America honors in the offensive line, and Flynn is joined by Eastern Washington's Aaron Neary and Clay DeBord as the Big Sky's only linemen chosen. Flynn and Neary return as First Team All-Big Sky selections. Chattanooga's Corey Levin is also a junior offensive lineman chosen by STATS Inc.
Prukop (6-2, 200, jr., Austin, TX) joins seniors John Robertson (Villanova) and Jacob Huesman (Chattanooga) as quarterbacks on the preseason team. The three quarterbacks combined for nearly 10,000 total yards last year and are each considered FCS Player of the Year candidates this season. Prukop threw for 2,559 yards last season and rushed for 966, keying a Bobcat offense that set school records for points and yards.
If the STATS Inc. preseason squad is any indication, the Big Sky could be loaded with talent in 2015. The Big Sky Conference landed 15 players on the STATS Inc. squad, with six on the first team, two on the second and seven on the third. The only league with more selections is the Missouri Valley, with 17.
