Tucker Yates looks to add to the impressive list of MSU D-linemen to wear 92
Every day we look at players who donned the jersey number corresponding to the number of days until the Bobcats open the 2015 season on September 3 against Fort Lewis College. The list of MSU football players by the jersey number is based on preseason rosters. The set of available rosters is complete from 1946-81 and '83-present. Only the 1926-27, 1934, 1937 and 1941 rosters are available in the pre-WWII years. Corrections, additions, or rosters that fill out the set will be welcomed enthusiastically via e-mail at: blamberty@msubobcats.com. Complaints about featured players also welcome, but possibly with less enthusiasm.

Tucker Yates, DT: If you don't yet know the name Tucker Yates, now might be a great time to learn it. The 2014 redshirt nose tackle has impressed since he arrived on campus. Originally from Colstrip, he was named Defensive Scout of the Week three times last fall, and Special Teams Scout of the Week once. The 6-0, 310 lb former high school wrestling standout should challenge for playing time this fall.
Spotlight Player: You never really knew what to expect from Adam Cordeiro. Off the field, he always had a look on his face that made people think he knew a lot more than he was letting on. And on the field, he did some amazing things. He was an explosive, athletic defensive end who moved inside to tackle as a senior. His stats may have taken a bit of a hit, but his dominance remained unquestionable. He absolutely wrecked opposing offensive lines. Two great Adam Cordeiro stories: 1) With eventual Payton Trophy winner (2005) Erik Meyer driving Eastern Washington down the Bobcat Stadium field in the fourth quarter of a crucial 2002 contest, Cordeiro snapped up what appeared to be an incomplete screen pass and moved toward the Bobcat end zone. The play was ruled a lateral, of course, and after some uncertain moments the Boulder product lumbered over the goal line for a win that proved crucial to MSU's championship run. 2) One season earlier, the team bus carrying MSU's big men losing a tire on the way back from a big win at Weber State suffered a flat tire. In varying stages of sleep, players wandered off and on the bus to have a look, but as the driver struggled to loosen the lug nuts Cordeiro slumbered through it all. Finally, without a word, he emerged, gazed at the situation for what seemed like several minutes, then used his foot to get the lug wrench started, and with satisfactory progress made he returned to his hibernation. Cordeiro was a three-time second team All-Big Sky choice, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2001. He was a really fantastic player at a time when Montana State emerged as a legitimately good college football program.
