Alan Wilson was a star for the Cats during a time of change
Every day we look at players who donned the jersey number corresponding to the number of days until the Bobcats open the 2015 season on September 3 against Fort Lewis College. The list of MSU football players by the jersey number is based on preseason rosters. The set of available rosters is complete from 1946-81 and '83-present. Only the 1926-27, 1934, 1937 and 1941 rosters are available in the pre-WWII years. Corrections, additions, or rosters that fill out the set will be welcomed enthusiastically via e-mail at: blamberty@msubobcats.com. Complaints about featured players also welcome, but possibly with less enthusiasm.

Jake McFettridge, OL: Jake McFettridge is a 6-6, 295 lb offensive lineman who earned his team's offensive lineman of the year award, lettering twice each in football and baseball. He was listed as the 21st-best committed prospect in Orange County his senior season.
Spotlight Player: Alan Wilson posted a couple of really outstanding seasons for the Bobcats in a transitional era, and is one of those underrated stars for whom it took a while to receive his due. He earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors as a junior and second team honors as a senior during a period of time when the Bobcats changed head coaches (Sonny Holland replaced Tom Parac in 1971) and was about to play in three football stadiums over three seasons (Gatton Field in 1971, Van Winkle Stadium at Bozeman High in 1972, and Reno H. Sales Stadium in 1973). Wilson went on to a long, glorious career in the CFL, earning hall of fame honors in that league and eventually similar honors at MSU.
Notable #67s in the Bobcat Past: At first glance the number 67 looks a little lackluster, but in Alan Wilson and Bob Schmitz that jersey gives MSU a pair of Wendy's Bobcat Athletics Hall of Fame linemen.
