Current Atlanta Falcon Mike Person wore #72 proudly at MSU
Every day we look at players who donned the jersey number corresponding to the number of days until the Bobcats open the 2015 season on September 3 against Fort Lewis College. The list of MSU football players by the jersey number is based on preseason rosters. The set of available rosters is complete from 1946-81 and '83-present. Only the 1926-27, 1934, 1937 and 1941 rosters are available in the pre-WWII years. Corrections, additions, or rosters that fill out the set will be welcomed enthusiastically via e-mail at: blamberty@msubobcats.com. Complaints about featured players also welcome, but possibly with less enthusiasm.

Spotlight Player: Mike Person was an undeniably great player in his own right. He was a big, rangy offensive tackle who was a really good player as a starting offensive lineman during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He earned honorable mention all-league honors and teamed with All-America Jeff Hansen as the league's best one-two punch up front. As a junior and senior, Person dominated. He earned First Team All-Big Sky honors each season, and was a First Team All-America as a senior. Person meant far more to the program, though, than simply his contributions on the field. He was part of a group of experienced players who pushed the Bobcat program from contender to champion. If DeNarius McGhee was the heartbeat of the program's offense in 2010, Rob Ash's first title squad in Bozeman, Person was its soul. His relentless will for victory led to a great season and one magical moment in November, when the Bobcats won for only the second time in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Mike Person will always be remembered by those in the Bobcat program for his fierce passion and for being a really, really good guy. His football career continues, as he's played for Seattle and St. Louis in the NFL and is presently a member of the Atlanta Falcons.
Through the years: Arjay Godston (1956), Bob Ernst (1957), Kenneth Young (1959), Ken Young (1960-61), Bob Hampton (1964), Dave Simpson (1965-66), Alan Wilson (1969), Dan Archer (1970), Pat Boyd (1971), Dan Finley (1973), Erik Sirs (1974-75), Chris Jensen (1976), Bob Balzer (1977-79), Steve Cornellier (1980-84), Greg Gammon (1985), Bill Wemple (1986), Travis Annette (1987-91), Monty Wilson (1992-96), Paul Diercks (1997-2001), Garin Brewton (2002-04), Mike Person (2006-10), Stephen Memory (2011), Charles Lee (2012-13)
