Alex Eekhoff extends the string of Reno Manogue linemen helping the Cats to eight years
Every day we look at players who donned the jersey number corresponding to the number of days until the Bobcats open the 2015 season on September 3 against Fort Lewis College. The list of MSU football players by the jersey number is based on preseason rosters. The set of available rosters is complete from 1946-81 and '83-present. Only the 1926-27, 1934, 1937 and 1941 rosters are available in the pre-WWII years. Corrections, additions, or rosters that fill out the set will be welcomed enthusiastically via e-mail at: blamberty@msubobcats.com. Complaints about featured players also welcome, but possibly with less enthusiasm.

Alex Eekhoff, OL: Reno's Bishop Manogue High School has had a nice run in the Bobcat offensive line. From 2008-11, Manogue product Conrad Burbank was a versatile workhorse for the Cats up front, playing guard and tackle and earning First Team All-Big Sky honors at the latter position on MSU's 2011 Big Sky title team. Eekhoff came to MSU during Burbank's senior season, redshirted, then immediately became a contributor. He won a starting job as a sophomore before his season was derailed by injury, then started all 13 games last fall. He enters his senior season as a prime honors candidate and as an anchor of the team's talented, experienced offensive line.
Spotlight Player: Jerry Jimison is best-known as the Mayor of Glendive. Not just a popular guy around town who knows everyone, but literally the town's mayor. Before becoming a civic leader in his hometown, Jimison was a very good Bobcat football player. He earned First Team All-Big Sky honors as a defensive lineman in 1967, his senior season, and before the league officialy caught up on his abilities his head coach, Jim Sweeney, was already singing his praises. "He plays more football with less apparent ability than anybody I've seen," Sweeney told another MSU legend, Sports Information Director Ken Nicholson for the team's 1967 football media guide. He called Jimison "not blindingly fast, but always first one there… doesn't have great strength, but never gets out-muscled."
Through the years: Gene Beekman (1957), Chuck Dallum (1958-59), Curt Farrier (1960-61), Jerry Jimison (1965-57), Hank Sheer (1968), Dave Sharp (1970), Barney Carnagey (1971-72), Steve Mullen (1973-75), Rick Kelsic (1976-78), Jeff Daugherty (1979), Tim Moss (1980), Troy Timmer (1981-84), Todd Kuck (1985), John Goggins (1987), John Schlee (1987-91), Bob Arne (1993), James Hoskins (1994), Will Napier (1995-96), Jonathan Taylor (1997), Ryan Henning (1999-2002), DeShawn Gibbs (2003), Sky Johnson (2004), Joe Rothenberger (2005), Jesse Hoffmann (2006-10), Alex Eekhoff (2011-present)
