MSU to engage in full contact drills in Bobcat Stadium
Pads will pop Saturday, as the Montana State football team practices in pads for the first time this spring. The session begins at 10:30 am, with the formal portion of practice beginning at 11 am.
Bobcat coach Rob Ash said he's anxious to get a look at his team in a contact situation. "We'll conduct about 40 plays live toward the end of practice," said MSU's eighth-year head coach, "and that's always a highlight. When the guys get to block and tackle for the first time, it begins to really feel like they're into it and getting better."
Improvement has been a theme during MSU's first week, Ash said. "Each team has 15 practices during the spring, so getting better each time out is important," he said. "Through two practices, it looks like this group of guys has embraced that. They're working hard."
After Saturday's first practice in pads, MSU hits the field next Tuesday and Thursday at 3:45 pm each day.
