Montana State Skiers Finish 7th in the Nation at NCAA Championships

“It was an incredible week for the Bobcats,” Francis said. “We had four All Americans, and ended seventh in the country. We can build on that in the future. I’m extremely proud of this team and what they accomplished this year. They believe in themselves and they are building upon that every week.”
Montana State sophomore David Neuhauser finished sixth in the slalom to earn Second-Team All-America honors, Saturday at the NCAA Skiing Championships at Whiteface Mountain. Neuhauser's effort helped propel the Bobcats from eighth to seventh in the final team standings.
The seventh place team finish matches MSU's highest ranking at the NCAA meet with its 2012 performance in Bozeman.
"David had two solid runs to get his first All-America honor," MSU Head Alpine Coach Kevin Francis said. "The way he is progressing, it won't be his last."
Neuhauser, a product of Brandenberg, Austria, had the sixth fastest opening run with a clocking of 59.22. He held the spot after posting a 57.90 second attempt for a total of 1:57.12.
Also finishing for the Bobcats men were David Owsley, 22nd, 2:01.42, and Garret Driller, 27th, 2:04.71. Driller was in 12th after the first run, but came up short in his final effort.
Dominique Garand of Vermont won the men's individual title in 1:55.03.
MSU newcomer Kari Hole paced the Bobcat women's team in the slalom finishing 13th with a two-run total of 1:59.19. She was followed by Benedicte Lyche, 16th, 1:59.77, and Stephanie Irwin, 21st, 2:00.74.
In all, the Bobcats scored 83 points in slalom, its largest total of the four-day event. MSU's alpine contingent finished with 155 points, while the Nordic squad added 104.

Colorado held on to the top spot heading into the final day and finished with 505 points for its 20th national championship. The Buffaloes were followed in the top ten by Denver 478, Utah 471, Vermont 443, New Mexico 402, Dartmouth 275, Montana State 259, Middlebury 230, Alaska-Anchorage 204, and Northern Michigan 193.
