“David won a race against the best field of the year, on the hardest, bumpiest conditions of the year,” MSU Alpine Head Coach Kevin Francis said. “There were at least four skiers in the field who are ranked in the top 100 in the world and Neuhauser out-skied all of them to win both runs and the race. It isn’t often the winner of the race wins both runs. We are really stoked for David and trying to take this momentum into regionals.”
Montana State sophomore ski sensation David Neuhauser destroyed the field in the giant slalom, winning both the first and second runs to post a clocking of 2:23.6, Thursday at the Seawolf Invitational hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage at Alyeska Resort.
For the first time this season on the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association circuit, someone other than a University of Denver racer captured the coveted alpine individual crown. Neuhauser is a product of Brandenberg, Austria and is majoring in business at MSU.

The Bobcat men's alpine contingent also received its second top ten performance as freshman Garret Driller placed seventh overall in a time of 2:25.8. Also scoring for MSU was David Owsley, who placed 22nd in 2:29.8.
For the second straight race, the Bobcat women struggled to get three racers to score points in the alpine events. Stephanie Irwin was MSU's top finisher, placing 18th in 2:34.5. Also finishing for Montana State was Tenaya Driller, who ended 25th overall in 2:37.1.
Utah captured the Seawolf Invitational team title with 629.5 points, followed by Colorado 567.5, Denver 546, New Mexico 533, Alaska Anchorage 465, MSU 445, Westminster 246 and Colorado Mountain College 51.
Montana State will remain in Alaska and compete in the 2015 RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships beginning Friday.
