Luke Daly Feted for Kicking Performance Saturday

MSU kicker drills two 50-yarders, excels on kickoffs
Luke Daly had a day for the ages Saturday, and on Monday was rewarded.
Montana State's sophomore kicker from Billings Central, was named ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week in the morning, and later was chosen STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the first player of the week award this season for Daly. Last season he earned Big Sky weekly honors once.
The second-year Bobcat starting kicker nailed three field goals and excelled on kickoffs, helping Montana State to a 44-20 win at Idaho State. Daly opened the scoring with a 57-yard field goal in the first quarter, the second-longest in MSU history. In fact, Daly's kick came 50 years and one week after the 59-yard field goal by Jan Stenerud that remains a school record and which at the time was the longest field goal in football history. Daly also hit a 53-yarder, becoming only the second Bobcat in history to connect on two field goals of 50 yards in one game.
Daly also impacted the game as MSU's kickoff specialist. He kicked off nine times Saturday. Five of them resulted in touchbacks, and on the other four MSU's kick coverage team pinned Idaho State inside the 25-yard line.
