Bobcat Skiers Finish Sixth at Utah Invitational

On Monday, McDermott once again paced the Bobcats placing eighth in the 10-kilometer classic event with a clocking of 38:40.3 – good for 23 points. Rounding out MSU’s scoring was Hultin, 16th, 39:41.5, and Annie Liotta, 23rd, 40:56.4.
The Montana State ski team received a pair of top 10 finishes by Nordic standout Cambria McDermott to lift the Bobcats to a sixth place team showing at the University of Utah Invitational, which concluded Monday morning at Soldier Hollow Resort.
The junior from Putney, Vermont placed third in Sunday's five-kilometer freestyle, covering the course in 11:30.6 and notching 34 points for MSU. Also scoring for the Bobcats was Aja Starkey, 14th, 12:13.9, and Lina Hultin, 21st, 12:41.7.

Denver's Sylvia Nordskar captured both individual titles on the women's side.
The Montana State men also received a top 10 finish on Monday as newcomer Erik Axelsson placed sixth overall in the 15-kilometer classic with a time of 49:12.4. He was followed in MSU's top three by Sawyer Kesselheim, 21st, 51:20.3, and Forrest Mahlen, 30th, 54:55.9.
All-American Rune Oedegaard of Colorado won the classic men's title in 47:28.6.
On Sunday, Kesselheim, a product of Bozeman, paced the men in the freestyle race, placing 13th overall in 20:46.4. He was followed by Axelsson, 21st, 21:28.5, and Noah Andersen, 23rd, 22:09.1.
CU took the first team title of the season, racking up 694.5 points, followed by Utah 613, Denver 612, New Mexico 465.5, Alaska-Anchorage 411, MSU 394, Westminster 249, Wyoming 162 and Colorado Mountain College 52.
