Billings Central product becomes second straight Cat to win Special Teams honor
Freshman kicker Luke Daly from Billings has been named the ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
On a day plagued by 25-mph winds, Daly was rock solid. The Billings Central grad converted all three of his field goal attempts in Saturday's game against North Dakota, two of them into the wind, and converted four of his nine kickoffs into touchbacks. His most recent outing extends a solid start to his career, in which he has hit eight of his first 10 field goal tries without missing inside of 40 yards.
Daly joins Dakota Prukop (Offensive Player of the Week vs. Central Arkansas) and Shawn Johnson (Special Teams Player of the Week vs. Eastern Washington) as MSU's league weekly award winners this season. College Sports Madness picked Khari Garcia as the league's Defensive Player of the Week for his effort Saturday, which included a 45-yard touchdown off of an interception.
