Norris second fastest collegiate skier at US Nationals on Saturday
Montana State senior David Norris placed fourth in the men's 15-kilometer freestyle event at the 2014 US Nordic Skiing National Championships, Saturday afternoon at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, Alaska.
Norris, a product of Fairbanks, Alaska, was the second fastest collegiate skier finishing the course in 38:26.2, and only three-seconds behind Erik Bjornsen, who represented the United States at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
Noah Hoffman, who also skied in the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, captured the freestyle race in 37:28.8. University of Vermont standout Scott Patterson finished second overall in 37:34.7.
"It was an amazing performance by David," MSU head Nordic coach Grethe Hagensen said. "This proves once again that David is one of the best Nordic skiers in the country. He will continue skiing after graduating this spring. David's long-term goal is to compete in the Olympics in four years."
Norris recently led the Bobcat ski team to a ninth place finish at the 2014 NCAA Skiing Championships in Utah.
